Is it possible to hack an ipod and monitor someone from afar?

Ok, I don't think this is possible, but then again I'm surprised by the lengths some will go to spy. If someone gives another person an ipod touch, could the giver monitor the ipod user's activity on the ipod (skype, facebook, email, etc) without being in physical contact w/the ipod or w/in wifi distance?
